In addition to peer nominations, a physician-led research team makes thousands of phone calls each year to leading specialists, chairs of clinical departments and others involved in healthcare, gathering further information regarding the top specialists for various diseases and procedures.

The physician-led team carefully reviews the credentials of every physician being considered for the Top Doctors list. The review includes scrutiny of medical education, training, board certifications, hospital appointments, administrative posts, professional achievements and malpractice and disciplinary history, among other factors. This team, along with other key personnel, makes the final determination on which doctors will be included in the list. Less than 5% of the nation’s licensed physicians have been recognized as Castle Connolly Top Doctors for their specialties in their regions, making Dr. Zoghi’s achievement worthy of recognition.”
